Just try to find something you could ask her just to open a conversation. Like if she's reading a book, you could say "oh is that a good book?" Something of that sort. Or if you are studying let's say math, you could ask her if she knows how to do a specific problem, then continue the conversation from there. You should talk to her if you really want. It is worth the try. If she likes you back she will not mind you distracting her. And if she does then just let her study and talk later. Good luck.
Why don't you go over to her, ask her what she is reading/studying? If it's something that you have read/study then why don't you help her out and then share your interests. Its a good ice breaker.
