I think you just click and drag them to the nano which should show up in the side.

If you have a 4th gen ipod nano and any itunes version under 8, you need to update it. Unfortunately the 4th gen is only compatible with itunes 8.How do I download songs in my iTunes library onto my iPod Nano?
With recent versions of iTunes, you have to first create a playlist containing the songs you want to transfer to your iPod. Then, click on your iPod in the sidebar, and go to the "Music" tab. Change the setting to sync the playlist you created to your iPod, and click the "sync" button at the bottom. I think you might also be able to sync all music, but from what I remember this causes inconveniences if later on there are only a few songs you want to transfer to your iPod in addition to the ones you already have on there. How do I download songs in my iTunes library onto my iPod Nano?
