How do I register my new ipod touch to itunes when I already have an itunes library?

So i already have an ipod, but i bought a new one. I want to register this new ipod touch to the same itunes library but i can't. I plugged in the usb cable, but nothing happens, except for the ipod showing a picture with a usb cable pointing to itunes. All you should have to do is plug it in and open Itunes. It should show up automatically. If it still doesn't show up you might want to make sure you have updated Itunes recently. Sometimes the ipod won't show up if itunes is outdated. But it should show up automatically. just click on the iTunes shortcut %26amp; it should realize its a different iPod then your previous one.
