How to move a zip file to itunes library?

How can I move a zip file (5 songs) onto my itunes library? I've tried doing "Add File to Library," and "Add Folder to Library." I clicked on the file/ folder and clicked open or double clicked. My computer and itunes don't show any sign of loading or transferring the file. How can I do this???
